No Good Webhosting: Why You Should Avoid The Free Ones

There are no guarantees about up-time. You can’t expect any guarantee of up-time with a free service. A free service provider may just go offline to perform maintenance without telling you. This can cause major problems for you if you rely on your website to generate revenue. You won’t make any sales if your site isn’t online. Who will make this cost up to you?

There aren’t enough features. If the service is free, the hosting providers won’t have any reason to pay for upgrades to software or hardware. This is the reason why there are very few features. When you pay for your web hosting service, you will probably be provided with a control panel that is user friendly and easy to use and will enable you to design your site. When you use a free hosting account, you just get basic features for working on your website.

There is no support. A good web hosting company will offer support. This is very important. There should be a person you can contact when you have problems with your website. This is usually accomplished by submitting a report ticket. This should get you some help within twenty-four hours. A good company will provide live chat so that you can get personal help immediately. Because they are not charging for services, a free hosting service will find it difficult to provide support services. You will just be able to send an e-mail if something goes awry. However, it is likely that your e-mail will not be answered.

The shared server environment is unstable. Free users tend to abuse free services in droves. Abusive users will get a free account and then upload tons of other sites. These sites may consume more than their fair share of resources. That’s the reason you often see free hosting sites going offline from time to time. The servers are simply overwhelmed.

Then they will shut down unexpectedly. This situation could be your worst nightmare. It doesn’t take long for the hosting operators to realize that free hosting doesn’t benefit them in any way! Their choices are to shut down their servers or start charging money. They will usually let users know that they will be shutting down so that the members can remove their files quickly. However, if you miss this e-mail, then you may find that your website has been shut down with no warning. You should avoid free web hosting for these reasons. If you are really serious about having an online business, it is better to have a paid hosting account that is shared, rather than a free one. You can get a shared hosting account for less than ten bucks a month. Even a student can afford that! You should get discount coupons from hosting review sites so that you can get good discounts for your web hosting. An online coupon is like a password. You can just cut and paste these coupons for an immediate discount when you sign up for a hosting account. If you use a coupon, you may save twenty or thirty percent. With free web hosting, there is no commitment to service, so it is unreliable and insecure. It really isn’t all that expensive to host your website with a top hosting company.
