Things You Should Know Before Choosing a Web Hosting Provider

by Carl Ziebarth

Any online business will not make money without web hosting. It is very hard to make money with a website that is not connected to the internet or is connected to an inferior hosting service. No matter how much time is put into website development, it is crucial you choose a quality hosting provider.

Basic information can be important. When talking about web hosting it is easy to get bogged down in bandwidth, megabytes, uptime, etc. However, there is some basic information that can be just as important. Reviewing the company’s profile can provide information about how long the company has been in business.

The data center is the backbone of any hosting provider. Since they will be the backbone of your business, you should find out about their data center. What type of connections do they offer? How many people will be on the server with you? Do they offer dedicated servers? Can you easily move from shared to dedicated hosting? These questions will provide a good picture of the company.

Low cost hosting can be very attractive, especially when you are first starting out. Many webmasters have been surprised by low cost hosting that hit them with extra charges. Find out exactly how much bandwidth will be allocated for your site. Be sure to ensure that “unlimited” really means “unlimited”.

You will work very hard to build a following. You do not want your hosting provider adding banner ads. Even worse, you do not want them adding pop up ads. It would be horrible to lose customers over advertisements added by your hosting provider.

Security is critical for all websites. The more information you collect, the more critical it becomes. If you are running an e-commerce site, customers must be sure their information is safe. They will be providing you with their personal information including credit card numbers, address, phone numbers, etc. It is crucial you ensure the hosting provider offers SSL certificates and assists you in setting them up.

Unlimited bandwidth has become a buzz word for low cost web hosting companies. It sounds very good, you can get unlimited bandwidth for a very low price. From personal experience, I can tell you these offerings are counting on you to not use much bandwidth. If your site becomes too large, they will quickly find a reason to request you switch to more expensive hosting.

Customer support is always important. Whether you are buying a lawnmower or choosing web hosting. It is even more important in web hosting. It is important that you be able to get customer service as quickly as possible. At a minimum, you want a hosting provider that offers several technical support options including email, phone, and/or instant messaging.

So far, you have reviewed the company’s background. You have researched customer referrals, researched their data center, find out the amount of storage you will have, and asked questions about their customer support. You should now be very familiar with the potential hosting provider and ready to make an informed decision.

Getting More Traffic To Your Website

by C alvin McCarthy

Websites must contain a unique, entertaining, informational and original content. The content must be based upon the keyword phrases. Websites that once saw their traffic dominated by Google search queries are seeing a growing number of new visitors coming from “passed links” at social networks like Twitter and Facebook.

Pay Per Click Marketing

Pay per click marketing is also one good way to boost traffic in your site. This tool allows you to bring interested online users to your website by the use of ads and text links. Pay per click marketing is a form of Internet advertising where the advertiser (company) bids on keywords and pays for clicks on their online ads. For the most part, PPC advertisements display on search engine results pages (SERPs) and run at the top of the SERPs and also show on the right hand column. Pay per click marketing on the other hand is like leasing traffic.

Article Marketing

Article marketing is another way that you can generate more website traffic. What you do is simply write articles that are related to your website and then publish them on article directories where people can find them. At the end of your article you are able to add in a resource box that can include the link to your site. It is fairly easy to write these articles yourself or you can hire them out for reasonable rates as well. It is easy to get hundreds of articles out there, and all of them will be linked up to your website, driving in more traffic.

Viral Marketing

Viral Marketing is an increasingly popular marketing trend that is becoming a common place expression among online marketers. This simple but effective strategy has turned many average people into multimillionaires literally overnight. Viral marketing can increase your business on a shoestring budget! Viral marketing is all about giving your customers what they really want — and really want to share.

Running a Contest

Having a contest on your site does not only help you get more traffic to the site, but you can also use the contest to come up with a good list of possible customers as well. Set up a contest that requires people to fill out a form to register to win the prize that you are offering. Get their email and ask for permission to email them while you are doing this. This way you build up a good list of leads and you also draw traffic with the promise of a good prize at the end of your contest. Make sure you deliver the prize.

Cpanel Hosting – The Best of Breed in Web Hosting Control Panels

by Richard Brodsky

If you have a web hosting account, chances are it includes some type of interface known as a control panel. Some of the more popular web hosting control panels include Plesk, Ensim, H-Sphere and CPanel. CPanel certainly has the most market share and for good reason, it is the most user-friendly, comprehensive web hosting control panel available.

Back in the ancient days of web hosting, if you needed to add a POP account or create a sub-domain, you needed to telnet into the server and type a command or request that a server admin do this for you. This type of functionality has long ago been replaced by control panels like CPanel. Nowadays, anyone with a cpanel hosting account can simply log-in to the web based interface and in a few clicks set up a POP account or an email forwarder or even an autoresponder.

Email functionality is just the tip of the iceberg with CPanel. Once you’re logged in to your cpanel hosting interface, you can use it to create additional FTP accounts, mySQL Databases or a range of other services. If you need to create subdomains or add-on domains for example, that functionality is built right in. In just a few clicks you can complete tasks that would have required a thorough understanding of UNIX commands.

One of the more convenient portions of the cpanel hosting interface is the scripts installation area. Here you can install software directly into your cpanel hosting account with just a few easy clicks. Whether it’s a Wordpress Blog or a Guestbook program or a simple web page counter, it doesn’t get much easier than the point and click simplicity that CPanel offers.

To make things even simpler for those of you new to cpanel hosting, the latest version of CPanel even includes video tutorials for each section of its interface. Now it’s possible for even the newest of newbies to sit down at his or her computer and be taken by the hand, step-by-step through the CPanel interface to complete whatever tasks they need to accomplish. We’ve come a long way baby!

You’re certainly welcome to host your site with a company that uses a control panel other than cpanel, but I think you’re missing out on quite a bit of functionality and ease of use. Cpanel hosting plans will offer you the most user friendly, feature rich web hosting experience available today.
